From This Small Place

From This Small Place is a coming-of-age story within the backdrop of the Rohingya refugee crisis. The film follows six-year-old Hossain Johar as he fills his days with the grand adventure of childhood where birds – and big sisters – are slingshot targets and loud farts the perfect noise to interrupt any peaceful moment.

But soon, deadly monsoons and a controversial return back to Myanmar begin to shatter his fragile peace as the family faces flooding, landslides, and even illness. Hossain strives to maintain his childhood world of fun but soon, he must face the adult world around him.
