Synopsis
Between Sardinia and Palestine, two geographically distant but equally central places in the history of pastoralism from the Middle East to the Mediterranean, Abel recounts the lives of resilient men who survive on the edge of a military firing range in the south of the island, in a deconsecrated church and in desert where Bedouin villages are controlled by the Israeli army. Through the portraits of three solitary men and a Palestinian Bedouin family, the film draws an imaginary Abel, the shepherd-an archaic and emblematic figure in human history - contemporary witness of almost invisible communities on the fringes of cities, villages and territories.
