The Marquise, the Nun, the Mad and the Spy

At the end of the 1920s, on the summit of Monte Generoso, in an inaccessible area, battered by lightning and overhanging a rock face, a strange little building was constructed. The site chosen for the unusual building, at an altitude of 1,700 metres and difficult to access, made it look like an eagle's nest overlooking the region, similar to certain war bunkers or places of worship and hermitage clinging to the rocks. Who was that mysterious woman for whom the building was constructed? A spy? A madwoman? An extravagant hermit scholar in search of contemplative peace?
