Synopsis

Available in Docs for Sale after the world premiere at IDFA.

In the summer of 1989, Pyongyang hosted an international mega-event that has largely faded from historical memory. For the first and only time, North Korea opened its borders to 20,000 visitors from 167 countries for the 13th World Youth and Student Festival, with discussions focusing on nuclear disarmament, environmental protection, women's and students' rights, social justice and, above all, peace. The film follows the Romanian delegation participating in the 1989 festival, where videographer Emilian Urse documents the festival, an opportunity for young people to meet others and explore different cultures in a world divided by borders and ideologies.
