Synopsis

Under the Surface is a portrait of Anne, a young woman of 33 who wants nothing more than to live underwater as a mermaid. Her greatest challenge however is to live above water, as she has Asperger’s and is visually impaired due to premature birth. She is slowly trying to build that life together with her boyfriend, who looks remarkably like Prince Eric from the animated film „The Little Mermaid“. A heartwarming film with a far deeper layer that advocates that fantasy and magic can be a permanent healing source and transform someone‘s life.
