Presentation formats

Explore how your project will be presented at IDFA Forum. Each format is designed to support different stages, needs, and ways of connecting with international partners—from public pitches to focused discussions and one-on-one meetings.

All presentations take place in Amsterdam and are open to Forum passholders.

Each selected project is represented by a two-person team (producer and director), who present and take part in meetings throughout the Forum.

Pitches

Present your project in a 7-minute pitch, combining visual materials with a moderated introduction, followed by a short Q&A with an industry representative.

Pitches take place in a large, public setting with a broad group of Forum passholders and decision-makers.

Roundtable Presentations

Begin with a 7-minute presentation, including visual materials and a moderated introduction, followed by a 15-minute roundtable discussion with a curated group of industry professionals.

This format offers a more focused setting for in-depth conversation, while remaining open to Forum passholders.

Rough Cut Presentations

Share a 20-minute excerpt of your film in a cinema setting, accompanied by a short, moderated introduction.

These screenings are attended by a targeted group of acquisition and distribution professionals, including festival programmers attending Docs for Sale.

Selected teams receive access to Docs for Sale and may choose to make their full rough cut available via IDFA’s secure online platform to a curated group of professionals.

You may include a short introduction to provide context on the editing stage and remaining work.

DocLab Forum

Present your project in an 8-minute format with visual materials and a moderated introduction, followed by a discussion with industry representatives.

This format is flexible and can be adapted to your project’s form and approach. The audience includes new media and interdisciplinary professionals, alongside documentary and industry representatives from the wider Forum.

Pre-arranged meetings

Alongside presentations, the Forum facilitates one-on-one meetings between project teams and selected industry professionals.

Meetings are scheduled based on mutual interest: both project teams and industry representatives indicate who they would like to meet.

Not all accredited guests take part in one-on-one meetings. Industry representatives form its core, while a limited number of independent producers included for projects that are actively seeking co-producers.
