2023 IDFA Markets: New Website, Key Dates, and Felix Meritis Return
IDFA's markets open their call for this year’s project submissions to Forum, Docs for Sale and observer accreditation, sharing updated information on presentation formats, checklists, FAQs and more in an intuitive new way that steers documentary professionals towards all that IDFA has to offer. By visiting the new website at www.idfa.nl, access all the details and entry forms. In 2023, the Markets will take place onsite in Amsterdam, returning to a new and improved Felix Meritis floor plan.
Co-Production and co-financing at the Forum
The Producers Connection presentation continues to be a dedicated space for exploring coproduction opportunities and sustainable international collaborations, and exchange with producers and select financiers. Forum and DocLab Forum pitch presentations bring together projects and industry professionals from the entire spectrum of the documentary financing world to spark business matches and new ideas.
Sales and Distribution at Docs for Sale
Docs for Sale looks to include high quality finished films in its catalogue alongside sales agent slates and IDFA-selected films. This year, the Docs for Sale team encourages participants to capitalize on their IDFA markets launch by offering online guides, workshops and a whole array of consultancies towards increased sales and distribution knowledge.
Bridging the Markets at the rough cut stage
The intimate Rough Cut Presentations will again take place in the cinema, inviting all industry professionals from the Forum and Docs for Sale for an afternoon of film screenings with teams looking to find gap financing while developing distribution strategies. Selected projects take one-on-one meetings at the Forum while networking with potential buyers and exhibitors at Docs for Sale.
Being a Forum Observer
If you do not have a project ready to present at the markets, independent producers should consider applying to be a Forum observer to network with over 700 guests.
Markets at Felix Meritis
The Markets return to Felix Meritis in the heart of Amsterdam’s Jordaan district, taking over the entire space exclusively for market presentations and networking. Additional rooms are now allocated to quiet meeting spaces dedicated to both Forum and DFS passholders while Docs for Sale takes over the upper floors entirely. All industry programing and consultancies move to ITA, and Guests Meet Guests to bigger spaces in Amsterdam. As such, Felix Meritis dedicates itself entirely to the business of documentary.
