The IDFA Bertha Fund Activity Report 2023 presents an overview of the year's activities—presenting facts, figures, and the stories behind several supported filmmakers.
2023 was a year in which the IDFA Bertha Fund sought to better serve filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Oceania by expanding the support it offers. After increasing the IBF Classic grants and continuing IBF Europe as a minority co-production grant in 2022, the Fund was able to add a number of new activities.
The In the Spotlight articles are the heart of the 2023 Activity Report, taking us behind the scenes of the filmmaking process and into the contexts in which filmmakers work. The report features interviews with Erhan Arik and Mereym Yavuz of Our Seeds, Olga Chernykh of A Picture to Remember, Asmae El Moudir of The Mother of All Lies, and Vuslat Karan and Burcu Melekoglu of Blue ID, and a recap on the IDFA 2023 Film Talk with Tatiana Huezo Sánchez.
