Synopsis

In 2016, screenwriter Lars K. Andersen embarks on a project inspired by his childhood hero, explorer Helge Ingstad, who searched for a lost Apache tribe in 1937 Mexico. Initially planned as a road movie, it becomes a self-reflective documentary to avoid cultural appropriation. Lars retraces Ingstad’s steps, meeting Geronimo’s great-grandson, Pius, who believes in the Apaches' existence. Along the way, they encounter a family exploiting Geronimo's name and a secretive Mexican Intelligence Agent. Wrestling with ethical dilemmas, Lars discovers an Apache woman’s skull in Oslo, leading to an emotional conclusion.
