Synopsis
Winning Hearts and Minds unveils the tragic fallout of Western military involvement in Afghanistan. The documentary reveals how troops, at times misled and acting on inadequate intelligence, caused fatal consequences for Afghan civilians. In Musa Qala, Danish and British forces inadvertently supported a brutal drug cartel while intending to defend local police. Filmmakers Nagieb Khaja and Martin Tamm Andersen expose these horrors. The corrupt ex-governor exploited Western involvement for the drug trade, ultimately leading to Musa Qala's fall to the Taliban, leaving the city and nation in darkness, revealing a heartbreaking betrayal.
