The IDFA Bertha Fund calls for submissions for IBF Classic.

The IDFA Bertha Fund is now accepting submissions for its flagship grant program IBF Classic that offers support to documentary projects in development and (post-)production.

The deadline for submissions is December 10, 2023.

Eligible filmmakers can submit their documentary project in one of two categories:

  • Project development, with the maximum contribution per project reaching €7,500.

  • Production & post-production, with the maximum contribution per project reaching €25,000.

In addition to funding, IBF Classic also offers selected filmmakers tailored support through IDFA’s Filmmaker Support department, providing ample opportunity for them to connect with IDFA’s professional network year-round.

IBF Classic welcomes creative documentary projects that tell compelling and pertinent stories in a bracing visual approach and have the potential to reach and resonate with audiences worldwide. Eligible documentary projects must be from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, or the Caribbean (see the IBF Classic Country List). Read about further general and category-specific requirements for the projects here.
